Accurately weighing neutrinos with cosmological surveys

چکیده
A promising avenue to measure the total, and potentially individual, mass of neutrinos consists leveraging cosmological datasets, such as cosmic microwave background surveys large-scale structure universe. In order obtain unbiased estimates neutrino mass, however, many effects ought be included. Here we forecast, via a Markov Chain Monte Carlo likelihood analysis, whether measurements by two galaxy surveys: DESI {\it Euclid}, when added CMB-S4 experiment, are sensitive that can alter neutrino-mass measurements. The first is slight difference in suppression matter fluctuations each hierarchy generates, at fixed total mass. second growth-induced scale-dependent bias (GISDB) haloes produced massive neutrinos. We find near-future distinguish hierarchies with same only $1\sigma$ level; thus, while these poised deliver measurement sum masses, they cannot significantly discern individual foreseeable future. further neglecting GISDB induces up overestimation show how absorb this effect redshift-dependent parametrization scale-independent bias.

Weighing Neutrinos with Galaxy Surveys
We show that galaxy redshift surveys sensitively probe the neutrino mass, with eV mass neutrinos suppressing power by a factor of two. The Sloan Digital Sky Survey can potentially detect N nearly degenerate massive neutrino species with mass mν ∼ 0.65(Ωmh /0.1N) eV at better than 2σ once microwave background experiments measure two other cosmological parameters. Significant overlap exists betwe...
متن کاملWeighing neutrinos with galaxy cluster surveys.
Large future galaxy cluster surveys, combined with cosmic microwave background observations, can achieve a high sensitivity to the masses of cosmologically important neutrinos. We show that a weak lensing selected sample of > or approximately 100,000 clusters could tighten the current upper bound on the sum of masses of neutrino species by an order of magnitude, to a level of 0.03 eV. Since thi...
متن کاملWeighing neutrinos with large-scale structure
While it is established that the effect of neutrinos on the evolution of cosmic structure is small, the upper limits derived from large-scale structure could help significantly to constrain the absolute scale of the neutrino masses. Current results from cosmology set an upper limit on the sum of the neutrino masses of ∼ 1 eV, somewhat depending on the data sets used in the analyses and assumed ...
متن کاملWeighing Neutrinos: Weak Lensing Approach
We study the possibility for a measurement of neutrino mass using weak gravitational lensing. The presence of non-zero mass neutrinos leads to a suppression of power at small scales and reduces the expected weak lensing signal. The measurement of such a suppression in the weak lensing power spectrum allows a direct measurement of the neutrino mass, in contrast to various other experiments which...
متن کاملCosmological Implications of Neutrinos
The lectures describe several cosmological effects produced by neutrinos. Upper and lower cosmological limits on neutrino mass are derived. The role that neutrinos may play in formation of large scale structure of the universe is described and neutrino mass limits are presented. Effects of neutrinos on cosmological background radiation and on big bang nucleosynthesis are discussed. Limits on th...
